University/Westcott Housing and Neighborhood Plan / 10-21-12

Several neighborhood forums and meetings were held over the last couple of years during the development of the University/Westcott Housing and Neighborhood Plan. The planning process has been sponsored by the University Neighborhood Preservation Association and is intended to build on the citys Housing Plan.

A final draft of the plan has been completed. We would like to share it with residents, business owners and other stakeholders so that it can start to be used as a tool by everyone working to improve housing and quality of life in the neighborhood. We will be holding a neighborhood forum at two different dates/times to present and discuss the plan and process, prioritize action strategies, and start to develop action plans.

Plan on attending one forum. They are scheduled for:

 

·         Saturday November 3 from 2 to 4 pm 

·         Wednesday November 7 from 7 to 9 pm

·         Erwin First United Methodist Church

·         Refreshments will be provided

As with the earlier forums, you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge and ideas - in this case about which strategies are most important short and long term,  and how can they be put into motion. It will be an engaging and interesting session, and your involvement really matters.

Please invite others you know in the neighborhood to attend.

There are two files at that link. The smaller one contains the plan document which is primarily text with a couple of diagrams. The larger file contains the plan document and a series of appendices that contain all of the information that was researched, documented and shared during the process.

There will also be a hard copy of the plan and process documents available at the Petit Branch Library starting sometime next week.
